The growing use of the telematic network for all types of E-commerce activities has, in fact, created the conditions for the growth of a new form of “do-it-yourself” criminal entrepreneurship, including in the field of drug trafficking, notably the illicit market for different types of drugs. 

The illegal marketing of drugs on electronic networks is, due to its intrinsic characteristics, a particularly insidious and difficult to counteract mode of dissemination of drugs. In fact, it allows access to the clandestine market for a potentially indefinite number of customers, including children of school age, does not require particular investments from suppliers (who are able to manage their operations quickly and easily), seems to guarantee impunity and offers the possibility for consumers, especially younger ones, to purchase the substances directly from home, without having to come into contact with the dealer, receiving them at home in packages, sent by air mail that ensure the confidentiality of the content.

Drug transactions take place both on the open web, a network accessible through free-to-air connections, where numerous websites dedicated to these illicit activities are active (many of these located on servers located in the Netherlands, Northern Europe or Northern Europe and East), but above all in the cd darknet, the “dark” part of the network, which is accessed through more complex anonymous and encrypted connection systems, used by individuals with criminal profiles, which require more in-depth skills and knowledge. 

Transactions are concluded upon payment by credit card or through crypto-coins, the latter used above all in more complex transactions carried out on the darknet.

Analyze and monitor the network in order to prevent and coordinate the related repression activities to be carried out, in the local area, through the investigative study of the information acquired. At present, the investigative offices / departments of the national police forces and the competent foreign police bodies are conducting numerous in-depth info-investigative activities promoted.
